Level 2 Award Safe Moving and Handling (RQF)

Suitable for new starters and refresher training, this qualification is an introduction to moving and handling activities for those who need specific training in manual handling. This course teaches learners that it is important for moving and handling must be carried out correctly, for a safe working environment to be maintained.

Subjects covered include the reasons for safe manual handling, manual handling risk assessments principles, types of equipment, and testing requirements associated with manual handling safety.

Total Qualification Time

This qualification takes 20 hours in total, of which 10 hours are recommended for guided learning.

Assessment

This qualification is assessed in two parts. The first part is a multiple-choice question examination, covering the breadth of the course syllabus and carried out within a 30-minute timeframe. The second part is a practical assessment.

Level 2 Award in the Principles of Fire Safety (RQF)

The objective of the qualification is to support those involved in the management of fire safety within the workplace. This includes managers, supervisors, team leaders, fire wardens, (or marshals) and staff working in any area where there is a potential risk of fire. Students learn that fire safety is the responsibility of everyone in the workplace and learn how to recognise common hazards. This enables them to assess and reduce the risk of fire in the workplace.

Total Qualification Time

This qualification takes seven hours in total, of which six hours are recommended for guided learning.

Assessment

Learners qualify by scoring at least 60% in a 20-question multiple-choice examination, carried out over 45 minutes.

Level 2 Award in Risk Assessment (RQF)

Suitable for learners aged 14 years and up, this qualification is designed to prepare students to progress into further/higher level training and provide them with an awareness of the benefits of risk assessment in any environment. Consisting of one mandatory unit, this course is available either as a stand-alone or as part of a wider programme of training.

Total Qualification Time

This qualification is usually achieved by taking a one-day classroom-based course, but is also available through a variety of other methods including blended, distance, and e-learning.

Assessment

Learners qualify by scoring at least 60% in a 15-question multiple-choice examination, carried out over 30 minutes.

Level 2 Award in the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (RQF)

This qualification is aimed at learners who work in an environment where coming into contact with hazardous substances is likely, including areas such as manufacturing, cleaning, healthcare, transport, utilities, and office environments. The objective is to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to recognise the risks associated with hazardous substances and how to control them in the workplace.

Total Qualification Time

This qualification takes six hours in total, of which five hours are recommended for guided learning.

Learners qualify by scoring at least 60% in a 15-question multiple-choice examination, carried out over 30 minutes.

Level 2 Award in Health and Safety within the Workplace (RQF)

Focusing on basic health and safety practices which are essential in the workplace, this qualification provides learners with an understanding of their responsibilities as employers and employees. 

Available as a standalone course or as part of a wider programme of training, the course covers the benefits of good health and safety, steps to a risk assessment, common causes of and how to reduce accidents, near misses and ill-health, typical hazards and controls in the workplace, emergency procedures, and the importance of recording any incidents that may arise.

Total Qualification Time

This qualification is usually achieved by taking a one-day classroom-based course, but it is also available through a variety of other methods including blended, distance, and e-learning.

Assessment

Assessment consists of a multiple-choice examination, where the learner must answer at least 12 out of 20 questions correctly. The examination will take a maximum of 45 minutes to complete
