Level 3 Award in Education and Training (RQF)

This introduction to teaching is designed to train individuals who currently work for, or would like to work for, further education colleges, independent training providers, and local authorities. It is suitable for a range of requirements, including those of:

  • Individuals not currently teaching or training – achievement of the qualification does not require practice other than micro-teaching, unless units from the Learning and Development suite of qualifications are selected;
  • Individuals currently teaching and training, including those new to the profession – although the qualification does not require practice, opportunities may be made available to observe and provide feedback on a trainee teacher’s practice;
  • Individuals currently working as assessors, who wish to achieve an introductory qualification in teaching.

Total Qualification Time

This qualification takes 120 hours in total, of which 48 hours are recommended for guided learning.

TQT and GLH values are based on average learners, and assigned as guidance.

Assessment

Assessment is based on a portfolio of evidence which must cover all assessment criteria of the units selected. The portfolio of evidence is assessed and internally quality assured by the Centre.

What Next?

After successfully completing this qualification, learners may wish to progress onto further qualifications, such as:

  • Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (RQF).

Highfield Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (RQF)

This qualification is intended for those who assess both occupational competence and vocational skills in various training environments, including workshops, classrooms, and workplaces.

Total Qualification Time

This qualification takes 150 hours in total, of which 84 hours are recommended for guided learning.

TQT and GLH values are based on average learners, and assigned as guidance.

Assessment

Assessment is based on a portfolio of evidence which must cover all assessment criteria of the units selected. The portfolio of evidence is assessed and internally quality assured by the Centre.

This qualification is intended for individuals who assess occupational competence in an individual’s work environment.

Total Qualification Time

This qualification takes 90 hours in total, of which 54 hours are recommended for guided learning.

Assessment

Assessment is based on a portfolio of evidence which must cover all assessment criteria of the units selected. The portfolio of evidence is assessed and internally quality assured by the Centre.
